Jessica Knox is from Tyler County, West Virginia. She completed her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Development, and Special Education at Glenville State University, where she was also part of the collegiate cheer team. She then went on to obtain her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Salem University. She is a dedicated mom, wife, and fifth-grade English Language Arts and social studies teacher for Tyler County Schools. She loves building relationships with her students and watching them reach new heights and new goals. Jessica is also the Young Writers Contest and Social Studies Fair coordinator within her school. She serves on the leadership committee and works with the Student Treasures publishing company, allowing all students in her building to become published authors.
She and her husband, Tyler, have been married for 6 years and have two beautiful children, Addie and Asher. Outside the classroom she enjoys working out, spending quality time with family and friends, reading, and hiking. As your Mrs. West Virginia American, she plans to spend her year actively engaging with her community, being a positive role model, and promoting literacy in WV schools. As her and her son were both born legally blind, she also hopes to become a voice for others facing their own visual impairments, showing that no matter the obstacle, you CAN succeed and live a beautiful life!
